This old and vintage crown is part of the wedding attire from the Sundanese people, who are from West java, Indonesia. The Sundanese have two types of bridal costumes, Sunda Putri (a more sober variant) and the Sunda Siger. This bridal crown called Siger, is from the Sunda Siger kind. This style is more glamorous and is originally worn by aristocrats only. The crown represents a symbol of hope, wisdom, a good character and respect towards their future lives together. The shape in the front of the crown is the diamond shape of a sirih leaf and is supposed to fend bad luck.
This beautiful vintage crown is made of gold, silver and copper gilt metal that has been decorated with rhinestones, embossed and shaped into a elegant peacock. The peacock is a traditional symbol of good fortune and is frequently seen in adornments worn at ceremonial occasions in Java.
