THE KETAK BAG
Plants grow abundantly in the tropical climate of Indonesia. Indiginous people of many different communities have learned to exploit the potential of different fibres, weaving, plaiting and coiling them into objects that are both functional as well as beautiful. These handmade bags come from the island Lombok and are made from 'ketak grass', hence the name Ketak Bag.
This bag is originally based on the antique Gandek Basket (see our Gandek collection here) that was used by shepherds and fisherman to store there lunch or fish. Handycraft such as basket making has long been an important activity in Lombok and to keep up with modern times they have designed a fashionable version of the Gandek Bag, the Ketak Bag.
Our Ketak Bag Collection comes in many shapes and sizes and are all handcrafted in Lombok, Indonesia.
